June’s cover tells of a great evening of music and entertainment at the Oleson Park Bandshell. The Bash at the Bandshell will be held on Friday, June 11th, with music beginning at 5:30. Four local, talented groups will entertain, with beverages and food available. It’s a night the entire family can enjoy. Make plans now to attend.

Heading the annual Frontier Days parade as the Parade Marshalls and 2010 Citizens of the Year are Jane and Ken Rasch. They have both volunteered many, many hours over the 35 years that Frontier Days has been a Fort Dodge event, through their cowboy camp. They are also responsible for building the Opera House. Twist & Shout would like to congratulate the Raschs - and their many family members on all their contributions to help make Fort Dodge the great place to live- that it is! Make sure to wave on June 5th as they make their way down Central Avenue.

Please make sure you read the Courtney Nash’s review on the book Pieces of Eight which was written by the eight Maggio siblings. They grew up in Fort Dodge, and all but Matt live in various parts of the country. They are coming back for a book signing on June 12th at Hy Vee. A super opportunity to get the book, signed by the authors themselves!

Hawkeye Community Theater will present the classic comedy play, Steel Magnolias the week of June 6th. They have a great cast- and offer first-class community theater. Hope to see you there.

The Blanden Memorial Art Museum is having Kids’ Art Day‚ on June 26th. It is free and open to the public and activities include painting, drawing and more- and also performances by the Elsenpeter Marionettes. Take your kids- and grandchildren and have a ball!

Don’t forget to mark July 3rd for Shellabrations’ great concert featuring Grand Funk Railroad and Night Ranger. It promises to be another great way to spend a summer evening. Don’t miss it!

Twist & Shout has a new movie review writer this month; Ruby Tuesday. She has reviewed an excellent movie, Hachi-A Dog‚s Tale. Based on a true story, it’s a great movie for any dog lover of any age.
