Art is for EveryoneSale and Live AuctionsSeptember 2, 2009
The Blanden Memorial Art Museum is holding a live and silent auction on Saturday, October 10th at the Bioscience and Health Sciences Building at Iowa Central Community College. The event, that starts at 7 pm, will feature over 380 paintings, prints and works on paper, as well as sculpture that are orphans (never accessioned). The works of art were deaccesioned from the Blanden Art Museum’s permanent collection and the Blanden Charitable Foundation’s permanent collection- and all will be sold. The majority of the works on paper have been recently archivally matted and are stored in archival cellophane protectors. The majority of works of art are priced individually for sale. Additionally, approximately 40 works of art will be sold through silent auction and 40 works of art sold through live auction by Keith Dencklau. The purpose of the fundraiser is to place the proceeds in restricted City and BCF account categories for the sole purpose of restoring and conserving significant works of art held in the BMAM and BCF permanent collections, as well in the BCF account category of enabling the foundation to purchase works of art that are well suited to exhibitions of the existing permanent collection.
