Organizer Jim Reed said the group will once again give Fort Dodge area residents fabulous music from tunes such as Bad Moon Rising‚ Green River‚ and Born on the Bayou, and “promises to be another big night of entertainment for the people of the greater Fort Dodge area.” The band features Creedence Clearwater Revival founding members and Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame inductees Stu Cook and Doug “Cosmo” Clifford. Rounding out the lineup is lead vocalist John Tristao of the 60’s group “People”; Tal Morris on lead guitar and Steve Gunner. “Given the incredibly positive response after last year’s Chicago concert, we wanted to continue the momentum and bring another big-time act to town. Creedence Clearwater Revisited represents the perfect fit.”
Shellabration Board Member Karen Wood added, “Their music is upbeat, recognizable and timeless.” She said that beginning with the local opening of “Cheap Drinks”‚ through the end of Creedence Clearwater Revisited, the crowd will definitely be on its feet and dancing at this show.”
Twist & Shout spent some time chatting with organizer Reed and asked him why he worked so hard at the event, basically Why do you keep on doing this?
He laughed and said, “Good question, I must have a high need to inject pain into my life.” He paused then said, “To do that which is uncommon is incredibly rewarding.”
When asked where he was able to get such great entertainment, year after year he said the process is really simple. “From years of doing this, we establish a pecking order of groups that we research online- to see their tour routes. Then we see which ones might fit into our time frame. We then target a band, make an offer and see where it takes us.” Those on his short list‚ for future dates include; Foreigner, REO Speedwagon and Styx.
Reed also told Twist & Shout that the organization sponsoring these events has a mission to contribute to the economic development of the greater Fort Dodge community through the delivery of exciting, family-friendly performing arts and entertainment options. He said that 100% of the net proceeds generated each year remain within the organization and are used to attract bigger headliners and spur additional events each year. The funds also help to fund a free Kids Zone at Shellabration and free admission of children under 12 years of age. “We take great pride in the fact that our tickets prices are well below the national average for the artists we feature,” said Reed.
Tickets for Creedence Clearwater Revisited are on sale for $28, “if purchased before July 13th,” said Reed. They will be $33 after that date. As with all outdoor Shellabration events, kids 12 years of age and under are admitted free. If there are tickets remaining, they will be sold at the gate for $35. “We’re hoping for a sellout, said Reed. “If you are thinking about attending, I would definitely buy your tickets early.” Tickets are available for purchase by phone at 866-468-3401; or online at www.ticketweb.com. Fort Dodge businesses that are selling tickets include Citizens Community Credit Union, CS Bank, First American Bank, First Federal Savings Bank, Hy -Vee, Hy- Vee Drugstore, Northwest Bank and Wells Fargo.
