Sing on

Hawkeye Community Theater

July 7, 2009
Twist and Shout
Be ready to laugh , relax and just enjoy yourself. It‚s time for Hawkeye Community Theater‚s summer comedy, “Sing On”, which will be presented July 6th through July 11th at the Hawkeye Community building on north 12th street. Directed by veteran Hawkeye performer and director, Buzz Powers, “Sing on” is a hilarious comedy about an amateur theatre group staging an Elizabethan musical with all its trials and tribulations. The hapless, but enthusiastic band of actors has fallen on hard times and is in danger of losing their theatre unless they can come up with a lot of money. In desperation they turn to an unknown author with an ambitious plan to win a $25,000 prize if they perform his musical about Queen Elizabeth I. Expecting disaster, they must carry on. This comedy is full of misplaced sound effects, impossible costumes and forgotten lines. Expect the best from this great comedy! Powers added that the play is about what can go wrong during a community theater production. “It is very funny and builds to a laugh-out-loud second act full of missed cues, errant sound effects, pesky costumes and dropped lines.” Those starring in “Sing On” include Joan Meyer, Heidi Nelson, Cassie Langstaff, Susan Helling, Sarah Smith, Brandy Vrchoticky, Tawni Langstaff, Mike Shoopman, Jesse Helling, Brad McIntyre and Jeff Bluml. Tickets for {Sing On” are available at the performance each night.
